ABS-CBN dominates 2008 Anak TV Seal Awards

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.’s shows and personalities have dominated the recently concluded 2008 Anak TV Seal Awards.

More than 4,500 people, including the youth, were asked to name their favorite TV programs and personalities in a national survey.

The survey result showed that Kapamilya shows ruled the list of most well-liked television programs. “TV Patrol World” led the pack followed by “Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba?” Rated K,” “Maala-ala Mo Kaya,” “Lobo,” and “Umagang Kay Ganda.”

Korina Sanchez, Sharon Cuneta, Angel Locsin, Sarah Geronimo, Karen Davila, Christine Bersola-Babao, Bernadette Sembrano, Toni Gonzaga, Judy Ann Santos, KC Concepcion, Anne Curtis, and Kim Chiu were among the top 15 most admired female TV personalities.

Kapamilya’s most admired male TV personalities were Julius Babao, Piolo Pascual, Edu Manzano, John Lloyd Cruz, Ted Failon, Gary Valenciano, Kim Atienza, Aga Muhlach, Cesar Montano, and Gerald Anderson.

Thirteen ABS-CBN shows were also awarded with 2008 Anak TV Seal. These were “Busog Lusog,” “Cedie, Ang Munting Prinsipe,” “Julio at Julia,” “Kabuhayang Swak na Swak,” Maayong Buntag Kapamilya,” “Matanglawin,” “Northern Catch,” “Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba?” “Rated K,” “Salamat, Dok,” “Sharon,” “Sirit,” and “Swiss Family Robinsons.”

Five programs of Studio 23, ABS-CBN’s sister company, were also recognized, namely, “5 ½,” "28th National Quiz Bee,” “Mathinik,” “Sineskwela,” and “Y Speak.”

The Anak TV Seal is given every year by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television. The Anak TV Seal is conferred to kid-friendly TV programs and personalities who are considered to be good influence on children.
