ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. bagged five Philippine Quill awards including recognitions for its successful PR programs for Deal or No Deal Around the World-Philippines and its special event Dolphy at 80.

Out of more than 200 entries this year, the two were among the merit awardees chosen by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the leading international resource of effective communication practice in various forms such as public relations, employee, marketing and development communications and crisis management.

The PR campaign that promoted the selection of the Philippines as part of the world tour of Deal or No Deal USA won an Award of Merit in the multi-audience communication category for making Filipinos proud and communicating the achievement and expertise of ABS-CBN in the game show genre.

The telecast of Deal or No Deal Around the World-Philippines last May was a shining moment for Filipinos worldwide as the special episode showcased the creativity and ingenuity of Filipinos in localizing the hit US game show.

The Philippines beat more than 50 countries that have their local versions to be part of the world tour. ABs-CBN’s version was praised for introducing innovations such as Kris Aquino’s hand gesture, the dancing 26K girls, the cheering and jeering studio audience and the party-atmosphere of the game show.

The special episode turned out so well that Endemol USA decided to air the Philippine version ahead of the Estonian and the South African versions in May 2008.

On the other hand, ABS-CBN’s mounting of a tribute to the King of Comedy via the TV special Dolphy at 80 also won an Award of Merit in the Special Events category. Apart from the TV special that gathered the major industry stars, ABS-CBN also renamed its Studio 1 to Dolphy Theater and played one of his memorable movies Markova for employees.

Aside from the two awards, ABS-CBN’s employee communications program Kapamilya Services bagged an Award of Excellence in the Employee/Member Communication category for giving company employees and their families an easier time in obtaining NSO documents and passports. ABS-CBN was the only broadcasting network to win an excellence award from the prestigious award-giving body this year.

Other programs entered by ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Division that won Awards of Merit include the company newsletter E-Frequency (Electronic Communication category) and ABS-CBN Foundation’s advocacy project E-TV (Economic, Social and Environmental Development category).

E-Frequency is the weekly on-line employee publication of ABS-CBN that provides concise and up-to-date company news and information by e-mail, while E-TV translates school lessons into visually appealing programs such as Sineskwela, Math-tinik, Hirayamanawari and Epol Apple that can be used by teachers as reference in their daily class discussions.

Pinoy Fear Factor on TFC

ABS-CBN launches its biggest program on TFC--- PINOY FEAR FACTOR, a reality game show where real life drama meets real life action.
“Through the ideal mixture of Endemol’s proficiency in cinematic stunts and ABS-CBN’s drama expertise, Pinoy Fear Factor gives you a unique experience of heart-pumping action with heart-warming life drama,” said Business Unit Head Lauren Dyogi.
After the successful take of ABS-CBN on “Pinoy Big Brother” and “Pinoy Dream Academy,” Endemol graciously granted the Kapamilya network the rights to morph Fear Factor into a full-length reality series. The show was entirely shot in Argentina, South America.
Twelve participants will be enduring the show’s challenges for more than 30 days under the cold climate of Argentina to vie for El Ultimo Participante title and bag P2 million cash prize plus a house and lot worth P2.5 million from Avida. There will be no consolation prizes to be given and the winner will take all. “Pinoy Fear Factor” is a program that showcases individuals performing the most daring and stomach-churning stunts.
Each new day brings another physical and mental challenge and anyone who shrinks back at the decisive moment or simply does not succeed falls by the losing end.
ABS-CBN also reformatted the program by adding the reality component as the participants will be housed in a boot camp (called El Campo Miedo) so that viewers can witness true drama as it unfolds.
Who are the 12 participants? How will they conquer their fears? Who will be declared El Ultimo Participante?
Find out the answers in “Pinoy Fear Factor”, premiering this November in North America, Middle East, Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific via the first ever 24-hour all-Filipino channel, TFC.
